I’m really interested in living well for longer, these 10 top tips are all aimed to improve your “healthspan” so that you can do just that.

  1. Eat Well.

Just Eat Real Food.

Go for single ingredient foods or at least be able to pronounce what’s in your food!  Steer clear from foods that are heavily processed and advertised, up your veg and good fat intake and fight any sugar addiction you may haveStay Hydrated.

  1. Drink water, tea, coffee and herbal teas.

Steer away from fizzy drinks, squashes, juices, smoothies, shakes, lattes, silly sounding drinks and moderate your alcohol intake. Don’t drink your food!

  1. Be Active.

Lift, move and bend.

Get strong. Get active enough to get your heart rate up and stay flexible. Move often with purpose and enjoy your ability to do so or you’ll lose it!

  1. Get Outside,

Spend at least 15 minutes outside everyday.

This can be going for a walk or it can simply be wandering around your garden but seeing the sky and being in nature everyday can have huge health benefits.

  1. Get A Routine.

Have regular times you do stuff.

Your health both mental and physical is a priority, it’s hard to argue that’s there’s anything more important, so schedule times when you’ll do things to improve it just like you would an important meeting or a social event.

  1. Learn New Skills. Try New Things To Add Some Variety,

Mix it up a bit, change what you eat, the type of exercise you do and try new stuff.

Challenge yourself to try things you think you can’t.

  1. Set Goals.

Decide what you want to achieve and when.

Make a plan to achieve those goals.

  1. Join Up With Others.

Get inspired by those around you.

Join a club, go to a class or get some expert help to get you in shape. This will give you a support network and help you stick to your plan.

  1. Relax and Rest.

Make time to just be.

Prioritise time with family and friends, doing gentle hobbies or actively relaxing.

  1. Sleep Well.

Get good quality, undisturbed, restful sleep.

Develop good night-time habits to help you get the most productive rest you can.
